The UK organic market is now worth £1.79billion in sales and this rate of growth is above the annual inflation rate of 2%. Interestingly sales of organic health and beauty products grew by 17% in 2013 to £37.2 million and the number of Soil Association symbol holders increased by 12.5% to 135.
Organic Market Report
The Soil Association have published their latest Organic Market Report in March which reveals that sales of organic products in the UK grew by 2.8% in 2013, a decisive return to growth after four years of contraction.
At James and James Fulfilment we have recently gained Soil Association certification making us one of very few Soil Association certified, organic fulfilment warehouses. With more and more health beauty conscious consumers turning to the internet, online organic health and cosmetic fulfilment is a fast growing sector for us and we have addressed the demand for specialist health, cosmetics and skincare fulfilment.
The high standards of the EU, DEFRA and the Soil Association ensure that we can handle both B2B and B2C eCommerce orders on behalf of organic licenced sellers and manufacturers.
We already offer the ability to track best before end dates and even individual batches - something that is crucial for these types of products.
All orders are dispatched in strict date order based on their best before dates (which are logged in the system upon arrival) and not the date the stock was booked into the warehouse. The process is fully automatic - gone are the days of manually checking individual bottles. Batches and best before dates are linked too, so it is fast and easy to ensure specific best before dates can be picked for those major trade clients who demand longer shelf life.
We believe this additional level of certification will give clients and their customers confidence in our processes.
