Cambridge Mask Co – a provider of military-grade face masks that filter out nearly all pollution, gases and viruses – has met a 2,500% increase in demand, brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to its partnership with us.

The company was founded by Christopher Dobbing in 2015, who wanted to develop a high-function, high-fashion mask, after seeing the health impact of air pollution while working in China. His firm partnered with James and James early on, to support the fulfillment of orders to a growing customer base worldwide.

Although the partnership has helped Cambridge Mask Co cope with peaks in demand before, often brought about by events such as wildfires, the COVID-19 pandemic created an unprecedented surge – its orders in January 2020 were more than ten times those in a normal month.

Dobbing, Founder and CEO, comments: “We had a massive spike in demand and sent more than 2,500 orders to James and James’s US fulfillment center in a single weekend. Fortunately, their managers had everyone in early and hired extra staff to clear the back-log.”

The initial surge meant that Cambridge Mask Co sold out of its entire inventory worldwide and is now releasing five-figure batches of masks, to meet pre-order demand – a 2,500% increase on usual volumes. James and James has been able to receive the masks in bulk and ship orders out, to both individuals and healthcare organisations, in 24 hours.

Dobbing continues: “As a personal protective equipment manufacturer, our products can’t get to the people who need them – whether hospitals, schools, businesses or vulnerable individuals – without a fulfillment center. James and James is an essential element in our ability to help the UK and international community respond to COVID-19.”
