With order volumes often doubling, the team spends months testing system performance to identify potential pressure points before the real rush begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe try to stress test our systems to see how they\u2019d react to that increase in volume,\u201d Alex continues. \u201cBut nothing beats the real thing. When we\u2019re down on the fulfilment floor helping out, we\u2019ve got our observability dashboard open to monitor how the system\u2019s handling the load. If performance dips, we\u2019ll head upstairs and spin up more compute power to handle the demand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"monitoring-and-maintaining-performance\"><\/span><strong>Monitoring and Maintaining Performance<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To stay ahead of issues, the team relies heavily on observability tools that provide a real-time view into ControlPort\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s our window into the system,\u201d Alex explains. \u201cWe can see every request that flows through ControlPort\u2122 and how fast or slow it\u2019s performing. If we start to notice degradation across thousands of requests, we\u2019ll dig in to find the bottleneck.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those insights feed directly into the team\u2019s development pipeline, ensuring that optimisations are prioritised and deployed well before they become a problem. \u201cBecause we deal with performance issues as they arise throughout the year,\u201d Alex adds, \u201cwe rarely face surprises when Peak arrives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"delivering-visibility-and-insight-for-clients\"><\/span><strong>Delivering Visibility and Insight for Clients<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Tech Team focuses on system stability, their work has a direct impact on the experience brands have during Peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cControlPort\u2122 gives clients complete visibility of their stock portfolio,\u201d says Alex. \u201cThey can identify slow-moving or dormant lines, track fast sellers to plan replenishment, and monitor order lead times from the moment an order is placed to when it\u2019s shipped.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That level of transparency helps brands make faster, data-led decisions \u2014 something that\u2019s especially valuable when every second counts during Peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"collaboration-in-action\"><\/span><strong>Collaboration in Action<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Peak is a business-wide effort, and the Tech Team is no exception. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, they\u2019re often side by side with operations teams during the busiest weeks of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe pressure\u2019s on,\u201d Alex says. We go from our standard trading period to almost double the volume. But there\u2019s a great feeling across the business \u2014 everyone working together to get orders out the door.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And while Peak is always a challenge, it\u2019s also a source of pride. \u201cHow well does all the work we\u2019ve done hold up? That\u2019s the question,\u201d Alex smiles. \u201cOver the last five or six years, we\u2019ve really not had many issues. Each year, we do a bit more to make sure everything runs smoothly.
