Packing orders on the kitchen table to fulfilling 1,500 a month.
Most businesses begin with a problem. What makes some of them special is that the person who spotted the problem also happened to have the skills and the ambition to do something about it.
Asif Hussain’s wife began experiencing postpartum hair loss after the birth of their first child. It’s a common condition, but that didn’t make it any less distressing. Asif looked for a natural solution and found a market that hadn’t really risen to the challenge. There were DIY options, or some brands with one or two products available. But there was nothing clean, focused, and specifically built for hair growth.
Rosemary oil had the evidence behind it. It just needed someone to do it properly. Asif spent nine months developing a formula, working with a factory in Leicester, testing it on himself and his wife before putting it through formal testing. The Rosemary Company launched in January 2024.
Two and a half years later, the brand has customers ranging from new mothers to women in their nineties, all of them seeing real results. The product worked, but now it needed the operations to match.
Our product is clean, and it does actually work. It doesn’t have any of the nasties that a lot of other products on the market tend to have.

Why J&J Global Fulfilment?
When Asif decided to outsource fulfilment, he was doing between 20 and 35 orders a day, working a full-time job, raising two young children, and spending two to three hours every evening packing orders himself. Something had to give.
He spoke to three or four fulfilment providers before making a decision. J&J wasn’t the cheapest option; at least one provider came in lower. But cost wasn’t the only thing on his mind
Infrastructure built for where the brand is going
The Rosemary Company is UK-only for now, but Asif had the next few years in mind when he was making his choice. Expansion into the US and Europe is part of the plan, and he wanted a fulfilment partner whose network would still make sense when that moment arrived. J&J’s global infrastructure meant he wouldn’t need to start from scratch.
A platform that looked genuinely usable
The software mattered too. Asif needed something his small team could work with day to day without friction. ControlPortâ„¢ looked straightforward from the start, and that impression has held up in practice.
A shared approach to customers
Perhaps most importantly, J&J’s ethos aligned with his own. Asif runs The Rosemary Company on the principle that customer happiness comes first, even if individual orders cost more than they make. He needed a fulfilment partner whose systems and processes would support that, rather than work against it.
While searching for providers, J&J gave me the best feeling overall. Everything aligned: your locations, the software, the SLAs, and especially the people. It just fit the way we already worked.

How J&J has helped The Rosemary Company See more, Sell more, and Grow more
Dispatch that actually delights customers
If there is one thing Asif singles out as the highlight of working with J&J, it’s the speed at which orders go out.
The Rosemary Company regularly receives unsolicited reviews mentioning how fast delivery was. On more than one occasion, Asif has noticed an order delivered the day after it was placed, gone into the system to check whether a premium shipping option had been applied by mistake, and confirmed it hadn’t. The customer had simply received their 48-hour delivery the following morning.
He attributes it to J&J getting orders out quickly enough to hit the early Royal Mail collections, which is something that wasn’t happening when he was fulfilling himself.

We get reviews where customers mention how quick the delivery was. I’ve gone in and checked the shipping to make sure we weren’t overpaying, and we weren’t. That just wasn’t something we could do when we were doing it ourselves.

A platform that puts you in control
Asif has used ControlPort™almost every day for most of the past year. More recently, he’s bought on-board a small customer service team who’ve been able to get up to speed quickly, which he takes as a sign of how accessible it is.
An area of ControlPortâ„¢ that Asif has found particularly useful is order tracking, particularly the ability to spot potential issues with customer orders before they become significant problems.
One task it handles particularly well: flagging orders with incorrect addresses. The Rosemary Company gets a steady stream of customers who enter an old address or make a typo at checkout. Through ControlPortâ„¢, those orders are easy to spot and fix before they go out. Without that visibility, they would simply stall.
Everything in ControlPortâ„¢ is where you’d expect it to be. I can’t think of anything I’d change. I’d imagine anyone, even someone who isn’t confident on an OMS, wouldn’t have any issues.

Goods in, ready to sell
Stock management has been one of the quieter successes of the partnership. Products arrive, get booked in, and are ready to sell without issues, without chasing and, importantly, without Asif having to think about it.
For a founder managing marketing, customer service, and product development largely on his own, that kind of reliability is worth more than it might sound.
Support when it counts
Asif gave one example that captures the J&J approach well. Ahead of a new bundle launch, he realised late on a Friday evening that he hadn’t set up the assembly on J&J’s side. contacted our Client Services team and within 45 minutes, it was sorted.
Whenever something comes up, it gets dealt with. Emails don’t go unanswered. For someone who’s largely running this on their own, that reliability matters more than I can put into words.

Bundles handled without the headache
The Rosemary Company sells bundles across its product range, and J&J handles the assembly. When a bundle SKU is ordered, the team picks the relevant individual products and fulfils it as a single unit. Asif describes the process as pretty flawless, and it integrates cleanly with their website back end.
The results
In its first year working with J&J, The Rosemary Company has:
- Grown from 20 orders per day fulfilled manually to 1,500 orders per month through J&J
- Received consistent customer feedback citing fast, reliable delivery
- Freed up the founder’s evenings (and headspace) to focus on growing the brand
- Managed bundle assembly, goods-in, and order amendments through a single, reliable platform
- Built the foundations for international expansion, with J&J’s global network ready to support growth into the US and Europe
The partnership with J&J is exactly what I was looking for. Without sounding like you’ve paid me to say this, it just works.
